yasuo kazuki museum

Misumi, Nagato City, is a town of mountains and clear waters that opens along the Misumi River, which runs right in front of the birthplace of Yasuo Kouzuki. Located on a hillside in the hot spring village in the center of the city, the Yasuo Kagetsu Museum of Art stands in perfect harmony with the rich natural landscape of the San-in region.
He loved his hometown of Misumi, saying, “This is my Earth,” and continued to create works on the theme of human love and peace without leaving his hometown. Many of his works were carefully preserved by the Kagetsu family for many years. The museum opened in 1993 after receiving a donation of these works from his bereaved family. The museum’s diverse collection includes oil paintings from his early years to his later years, drawings using ink, which is unique to Kagetsu, and palm-sized objects called “toys.
