motonosumi shrine

The Motonosumi Shrine was erected in 1955 at the behest of a white fox that appeared at the bedside of Hitoshi Okamura, a local fisherman who was the head of a fishing net.
The 123 torii gates dedicated over a period of 10 years starting in 1987 line up for more than 100 meters, and the view is truly breathtaking! It is popular as one of the most beautiful spots in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The shrine offers various wishes such as prosperous business, safe fishing, and maritime safety, as well as good marriage, childbirth, good luck and bad luck, happiness and good fortune, traffic safety, and academic success.
A money-offering box is located at the top of the 6-meter-high Otorii (Grand Gate) on the grounds, and visitors are encouraged to make their wishes come true by throwing their money into the box in a splendid manner.

*This shrine is unrelated to “Taisakutani Inari Shrine” located in Tsuwano-machi, Kanzoku-gun, Shimane Prefecture
